Dr. Pushpa Lata Sharma was born in 1938 in Narwana, a historic town in Haryana, into a distinguished family renowned for both medical service and philanthropic leadership. Her lineage is steeped in a legacy of giving back to society: her great-grandfather served as the revered Raj Vaidya (Royal Physician) to the Maharaja of Patiala, remembered throughout the region for his humility and noble character; her grandfather was a prominent landlord and farmer who generously donated vast tracts of land for charitable causes; and her father was a celebrated Homeopathic physician who earned the prestigious Dr. Hahnemann Award for his outstanding contributions to medicine.
Imbibing these deeply rooted values of service, humility, and compassion from an early age, Dr. Sharma dedicated her life to social upliftment and community welfare. A scholar of exceptional merit, she earned her Ph.D. in Hindi from the prestigious University of Delhi, embodying the principles of higher education and self reliance that she would champion throughout her career.
Dr. Sharma firmly believed that Health and Education are the two most powerful catalysts for empowering women and breaking cycles of disadvantage. Guided by this conviction, she envisioned a movement that would equip women and underprivileged communities with the tools to lead independent, dignified lives.
Supported by her late husband, Shri Narendra Singh Sharma, a man of deep empathy who shared her belief in selfless giving, Dr. Sharma established The Pushpa Narendra Foundation (TPNF). Together, their shared spirit of philanthropy lives on through the foundation’s dedicated initiatives in women’s empowerment, accessible education, and holistic healthcare.
As Chairman of the Trust, Dr. Pushpa Lata Sharma continues to serve as the guiding light behind TPNF’s vision, inspiring a legacy of impact rooted in tradition, leadership, and transformational care.
